The functions of an adapter plug

An adapter plug is a must while traveling in a foreign country. The adapter plug is a device, which is essentially used to convert attributes of one device or system to those of an otherwise incompatible device or system. A travel adapter plug allows a user to plug an appliance in to any receptacle in Europe, Australia, and North America.

An electrical adapter may enable connection of a socket, which is used in one region to a plug used in another by offering connections for the disparate contact arrangements, while not changing the voltage. AC power plugs and sockets are devices for connecting electrically operated devices to the commercial power supply. An electric plug is a male electrical connector with contact prongs to connect slots mechanically as well as electrically in the matching female socket. Wall sockets, which are known as power points, power sockets, electric receptacles, or electrical outlets, are female electrical connectors, which have slots or holes which accept and deliver current to the prongs of inserted plugs.

The garden hose adapter can convert between threads and quick-release, snap type connections. One kind of serial port adapter enables the connections between 25 contact and nine contact connectors, but it does not affect electrical power and signaling related attributes. Other adapters can affect electrical attributes. A transformer adapts household electric current from high voltage to low voltage, which is suitable for consumer electronics. The travel adapters will warm through converting between direct current and alternating current, but are safe to the environment and can withstand months of continuous prolonged activity.
